Women’s senior cup draw made

The first round draw in this year’s Women’s Senior Cup was made by John and Louise Connor at Beechgrove this evening with some really interesting ties coming out of the hat.

Newly-crowned champions Bready have a tricky start in their attempt to make it a league and cup double after they were drawn away at Eglinton. The visitors will start favourites to progress but the villagers can be a match for anyone at full strength and this is no foregone conclusion.

Second-placed Fox Lodge have home advantage over neighbours Strabane in what could be another keenly-contested game. The Ballymagorry side just lost out on bonus points in the title race and they will be determined to give the cup their full attention.

There’s something of a ‘derby’ feel to the tie between Killyclooney and Bonds Glen as well. ‘Clooney struggled to get a side out at times this year while the Bee Gees played in the Development League. Both sides will fancy their chances of making the semi-finals.

The final tie sees Newbuildings travel to Coleraine as the Bannsiders look to build on an impressive first season in the senior league.

First round matches will take place this coming Monday evening.

The draw in full is-

Killyclooney v Bonds Glen

Coleraine v Newbuildings

Fox Lodge v Strabane

Eglinton v Bready
