Women’s League wins for Bready and Fox Lodge
Just two games went ahead in the senior Women’s League on Monday, on a night when quality certainly made up for quantity. Killyclooney were unable to field against Strabane but there was a feast of runs at Eglinton where leaders Bready claimed the honours and another 5-star bowling performance from Mollie Devine as Fox Lodge won in Coleraine.
The Ballymagorry bowler suggested we use her recent hat-trick photo this evening even though she claimed excellent figures of 5-4 as the Foxies bowled Coleraine out for 64. Eva Gaston’s 26 not out held the Bannsiders’ inning together but it was never going to be enough. Emma Allen made 31 in the reply with cameos from Mollie and Sarah Black helping the visitors to an 8-wicket win.
Bready stayed on the winning trail thanks to Alan Dalzell’s impressive 61 (9 fours), 29 from Abbie McKnight and unbeaten knocks of 20 and 19 from Sophie Killen and Jemma Rankin respectively. That allowed the Magheramason girls to set a huge target of 157-2 and the villagers never really threatened to claw it back.
Zara Craig batted well for her 20 but the task proved too much as the home side were all out for 64. A couple of wickets each for Jemma and Steph Wilkinson and indeed a really solid bowling effort from all eight bowlers used saw Bready comfortably home.
