Women’s Cup to kick-start finals weekend

It is cup finals galore this weekend and before the senior men’s competitions get under way on Saturday it’s the turn of the women on Friday night.

Fox Lodge will host Eglinton in this season’s decider at Ballymagorry as the home side bid to keep the trophy for a third successive year. These two teams battled out the league competition this summer as well and there is likely to be very little between them in this match.

The visitors have in-form Zara Craig in their ranks and fresh from an excellent campaign with the North West under-19 Interpro side, the Foxies will be keen to keep her as quiet as possible. Megan McClintock, Arianna McKenna and Alice McLaughlin are other girls to have made their mark for the villagers this season and they will be keen to finish off on a high.

Fox Lodge have plenty of handy players of their own however and they will be desperate to keep the cup in the Ballymagorry clubhouse. Skipper Hannah McLaughlin has players like Sarah Black, Mollie Devine, Lucy Blair and Jamee McCauley to call on and this has all the makings of a fascinating contest.

Action in this T10 encounter gets under way at 6.30 and spectators are welcome- as long as they observe social distancing of course!
