Women and Girls finals day on Friday

Bready CC will host the first-ever Women and Girls finals day this coming Friday (21 July) with a double-header of games down for decision.

First up, at 1pm it’s the Under-13 girls final where holders Bready will taken on a rapidly improving Bonds Glen in a 20-over match starting at 1pm.

The Bee Gees girls edged out Newbuildings in the semi-finals while Bready beat Coleraine in a repeat of last year’s final to set up Friday’s decider.

Both teams have players who have played in the Women’s senior league and have also featured in Cricket Ireland’s Youth Interprovincial Championships, so it should make for a really competitive game.

Action switches to the senior ranks at 5pm as Bready and Fox Lodge- two teams who have dominated the Women’s division- meet in their cup final.

Bready are are unbeaten so far this summer despite having four players- Vanessa Buchanan, Jemma Rankin, Kaylee Barnard and Steph Wilkinson all out injured.

They still have loads of quality of course and skipper Alana Dalzell has been right at the top of her form this season. They’re no one trick pony of course- Charlie Scott, Cody Wallace, Sophie Hamilton, Mansi Bhavsar and the Spence sisters have all been enjoying very good summers too.

The Foxies have an outstanding record in the cup- this is their sixth cup final on the trot, and they’ve won four of the last five.

Players like Mollie Devine, Sarah Black, Tanisha Hussain and Lucy Neely have also been doing very well this season and they too could have a big say in the outcome for Kara Bates’ team.

It should be quite an afternoon and a big crowd is expected with plenty of refreshments and a ‘street food’ stall among the attractions.
