William McClintock leads in “Fastest 50” challenge
William McClintock is the new leader in the North West’s “Fastest 50” competition after he hit an 11-ball half century in Friday’s night’s T20 win against Strabane at the Holm.
The challenge carries a prize of £500 of sports equipment from sponsor All-Rounder cricket and McClintock hit 8 sixes and a four before being lbw to Tommy Barr for 55.
Ricky-Lee Dougherty was even more destructive at the top of the order as he blasted 10 sixes and 7 fours in his 39-ball 99 as the home side racked up 227 all out with 7 balls left unused.
Strabane never really looked likely to get close if truth be told- Tommy Barr’s unbeaten 24 the best of their 76 all out as Jordan McGonigle helped himself to 5-14.
Elsewhere, an unbeaten half century from David Cooke wasn’t enough to prevent Glendermott going down by 5 wickets at Beechgrove- 3 wickets and 25 not out here for Iftikhar Hussain to keep Brigade’s winning run going.
In the Eric Cooke Cup, Salman Ahmed’s 64 wasn’t enough to prevent Burndennett falling to a 64-run defeat at Ardmore while Scott Devenney claimed 4-9 and David Anthony 3-5 as the Saints beat Newbuildings by 26 runs.
