Warriors Women beaten by Knights
The North West senior women were comprehensively beaten by a high quality Knights team in Sunday’s Interprovincial clash at Ballymagorry. An unbeaten 86 from Hannah Grieve set the Belfast side on their way to a mammoth 252-4 and the hosts never really managed to land a blow in their reply.
Grieve smashed 5 fours and 4 sixes in her excellent knock, with support coming from Irish Internationals Cara Murray (41) and Amy Hunter (38). Charlotte Lyons (26*) and Amy Caulfield (22) also got in on the act while Mollie Devine’s 2-35 was best with the ball for the home team.
The reply struggled to get to grips with the bowling of Staci Maxwell (3-9) and Murray (3-21) and it needed Alana Dalzell’s fine 43 not out to add some respectability. An eighth wicket stand between Alana and Lucy McGranaghan (8) doubled the Warriors total from 41-7 to 82-8, before the innings closed on 87.
A heavy defeat but plenty to be taken from playing quality opposition and another step on the development road for the Warriors team.
