Warriors name squad for Bank Holiday warm-up match

The North West Warriors will travel to Stormont on Monday to take on the Northern Knights in a 40-over warm up game as preparations continue towards the new Interprovincial season.

The 40 overs a side contest gets under way at 11am with both camps agreeing that the full 13-man panels will be involved at one time or another.
Shane Getkate will skipper the Warriors side that also sees new Brigade player Cameron Melly make his debut for Boyd Rankin’s charges.
The Warriors Head Coach said he was looking forward to the start of the new season, and added that there would definitely be chances for the younger players in the squad over the coming summer.
“We’ve gone with a fairly young, inexperienced squad first up but it’s probably something we have to get used to this season given the amount of senior International cricket ahead.
“We’re going to be without several of our more senior players for the Interpros, which will mean more opportunities for the lads coming through. That makes it important that we get them in as soon as we can because they’ll need to be ready to play when competition starts.
“It’s going to be the same across the board I’d imagine, it won’t be just us.
“There will be opportunities for the likes of Trent McKeegan, Gavin Roulston, Scott Macbeth, Josh Wilson, Tommy Orr with the gloves and Robbie Millar who is out of the squad for Monday due to an injury.
“And while it’s a chance for these lads to get experience at this level, it is also a window to showcase themselves to International selectors over the next few years as well. There’s a bit of a demand for spinners at the minute- especially left arm spinners and ‘leggies’ in particular- so it’s a really good time to be involved.
“Of course developing players at this level now also has the added bonus of widening our player pool for next year and beyond, so it really benefits everyone.
“Obviously we still want to stay competitive but I feel we have a solid blend of youth and experience for now and I’m looking forward to seeing how we go in the coming weeks and months.”
The squad in full for Monday is-
Shane Getkate (capt)
Tommy Orr (wkt)
Nathan McGuire
Gavin Roulston
Scott Macbeth
Cameron Melly
William McClintock
Jared Wilson
Dharm Singh
Ryan Macbeth
Trent McKeegan
