Warriors fight back as Interpro heads for a draw

An Andrew Balbirnie half-century gave Leinster Lightning the edge on the final day of this week’s Interprovincial Championship match at Bready however the home side have fought their way back into the contest which now looks destined for an honourable draw. The visitors had reached 122-5, still 13 behind, with 35 overs left in the day, meaning it is increasing unlikely that the additional 16 overs available to get a result will be utilised.

Graham Hume must be wondering what he has to do to pick up a wicket after he spent the morning session going past the edge time after time without success. The Coleraine pace-man has bowled superbly, as has Craig Young who has picked up 3 of the 5 wickets to have currently fallen.

Lightning claimed the maximum 3 bowling points yesterday and will be looking to add a few batting points this afternoon before heading home to prepare for a huge weekend which sees them play Middlesex on Friday and then the Interprovincial T20 Blitz which runs from Saturday to Monday at Pembroke.
