
Warriors complete warm-up programme
The North West Warriors completed their pre-season programme at Belmont this evening with a narrow 4-run defeat against the Northern Knights.
Boyd Rankin’s men posted 222-8 in their 40 overs having been set a target of 226 by their hosts. Andy McBrine top scored with 63 (8 fours and a six), with William Porterfield making 40 at the top of the order.
Scott Macbeth was again in the runs as he made 31, with Graham Kennedy adding 26 while for the second time this week, Mark Adair took 4 wickets (4-25) for his side.
Earlier, James McCollum and Ani Chore shared a 91-run stand for the third wicket as the Knights reached 226-7. McCollum hit 8 fours in his 82, with North Down’s Chore adding 53.
Ross Adair chipped in with 34 and Ruhan Pretorius 27, while Conor Olphert (3-24) and Jared Wilson (3-53) were best with the ball for the visitors.
Both sides will have been delighted to get a couple of competitive games under their belts this week in preparation for the start of the Interprovincial series next week.
We will of course start have scores and a report immediately of the Warriors’ opening match against Leinster Lightning in Pembroke on Tuesday.
