Warrior O’Brien Receives Two Match Ban
Cricket Ireland disciplinary decisions to July 2017
19th June 2017 – KIM GARTH (Scorchers) vs Typhoons – Super 3s 11th June 2017
Kim Garth was reported for committing a Level 1 offence at the Super 3s match at Pembroke CC on 11th June, by standing umpires Matt Anson and Azam Ali Baig.
In considering the report, and taking into account mitigation from the player, the Disciplinary Committee determined that the player should receive a warning as to her future conduct.
5th July 2017 – NIALL O’BRIEN (NW Warriors) vs Leinster Lightning – IPC 20th June 2017
Niall O’Brien was reported for two Level one offences on the first day of the match at Oak Hill CC and, in addition, the commission of two Level one offences within a 12-month period also attracts a Level two offence. The report was submitted by match umpires Paul Reynolds, Graeme McCrea and Bala Kailash.
The player accepted that his behaviour was inappropriate and offered an unreserved apology to the umpires during the match, and to CI.
In accordance with CI’s disciplinary regulations, and given the player admitted his guilt of a Level two offence, the disciplinary panel determined that the player should be suspended from the next two Inter-Provincial Series matches for which he is available. Given that the player is not registered to play in the IP20 competition, the two matches for which he will be suspended are the IPC match against the Northern Knights on 1st to 3rd August, and the IP50 match against the same opposition on 6th August.
