Training boost for NW underage groups
The NWCU development squads can only train in small numbers at present however Wednesday evening’s session was given the full treatment as coach Kevin Martin was joined by Albert van der Merwe and Boyd Rankin in a session overseen by Warriors Head Coach, Gary Wilson.
It’s a sign of the times that local youngsters can avail of that quality of experience and it certainly met with the approval of the group as they were put through their paces by the coaching trio as well as S&C coach, Kathryn Rough.
The new net lanes at Bready are the perfect setting in these socially distanced times and there seems to be a very clear structure coming into place as the Union looks to build a base for the future.
The new Head Coach role also includes a Pathway Manager responsibility as well and it is clearly something that Gary Wilson is taking very seriously. There may be work to do over the coming months and years but if the early signs are anything to go by, these could be exciting times for youth cricket in the North West.
