T20 programme starts another full weekend schedule

Another fairly hectic weekend of cricket gets under way tonight (Friday) across the North West as the Best Western White Horse T20 competition heads towards the upcoming knock-out phase.

In Group A, even three bonus points for Brigade in their game at Burndennett would see the Beechgrove side top the table and into the semi-finals of the Faughan Valley Cup. That would be the first step towards retaining their NW T20 crown and leave Andy Britton’s men in the mix again for that coveted European League spot.

Teams in Group B still have two games each to play; current leaders Bonds Glen host bottom side St Johnston on Friday night while Eglinton would need to beat Strabane at the village if they are to leap-frog the Red Caps into second place.

Newbuildings can go top of Group C if they beat Glendermott at Foyleview Arena, however Donemana will have a chance to win it next week when they play the Rectory side in the final match of the group.

Group D is up in the air as well; the current top two- Coleraine and Ardmore clash at the Bleachgreen while Bready host Ballyspallen.

The Magheramason side need to win their final two game to have any chance of winning their section outright.

It’s on to the Long’s SuperValu 40-over Leagues on Saturday where again, the top two- unbeaten Bready and second-placed Brigade lock horns at Beechgrove.

Both teams have all but qualified for the Premier Division play-offs already and Ardmore are almost there too as they prepare to host Bonds Glen.

Fox Lodge and Strabane are both still in there pitching as well; Aaron Heywood’s team hosting St Johnston at the weekend while the Red Caps head to the Rectory.

In Group B, Coleraine and Newbuildings are separated by just run-rate ahead of their games away at Ballyspallen and at home to Eglinton respectively.

Donemana in third will close the gap on at least one of the sides above them if they can win at Killyclooney.

Finally, the three games washed out earlier this month will go ahead on Sunday as arranged with Ardmore at home to Bready the pick of them.
