Sports Hub NW Senior Cup Draw

The draw has taken place today for the first round of this year’s Sports Hub North West Senior Cup with some really intriguing ties down for decision on Saturday 14 May.

The seeded draw was carried out by Ireland International William Porterfield and NWCU General Manager Peter McCartney with last year’s Long’s SuperValu league winners Bready the first team to emerge from the hat.

Davy Scanlon’s side will entertain Glendermott in what will be an interesting game between two teams to have tasted cup success in moderately recent times.

Holders Brigade will start their defence of the trophy at home to St Johnston- the Donegal side yet to come out on the right side of any of a couple of previous cup tussles between the pair.

A couple of years ago Strabane v Donemana would have been an absolute standout tie and despite the Red Caps struggling over the past couple of seasons, there will be plenty looking forward to this Tyrone derby regardless of that.

Many will see Newbuildings as a ‘dark horse’ in the tournament this year and Gareth McKeegan’s team will be fancied to come through what might well be a tricky challenge at Bonds Glen.

Ardmore travel to Burndennett for another competitive looking contest while Coleraine start with a home tie against Ballyspallen.

The Nedd, the only non-senior side in the competition make the short journey to Eglinton while Killyclooney will host Fox Lodge to complete the draw.
