SMALE TO MAKE WARRIORS DEBUT IN DUBLIN

The North West Warriors have named a 12-man squad for next week’s Interprovincial Championship game against Leinster Lightning at North County.

There is one notable addition to Ian McGregor’s line-up with Will Smale set to make his debut after impressing in the Ireland under-19 side. The Welsh teenager is a very promising wicket-keeper/batsman, an area where the North West side is hardly spoilt for choice in the absence of Andrew Austin.

Elsewhere, the squad has a fairly familiar look as Ryan Macbeth and Tommy Orr are again included after decent runs of form at club level. Graham Hume has cemented hie place in the side too although Boyd Rankin’s unavailability is an undoubted loss.

With plenty of International experience in their ranks the Warriiors will head to Balrothery with some degree of confidence, albeit against a top-notch Leinster outfit.

All the games in the Championship so far have ended in draws so a win here for either team would give them an edge in the table.

Action gets under way on Monday at 11am.
