Season start date confirmed after Club Forum

The NWCU have confirmed the season it due to start on 27th April as planned after clubs voted in favour of keeping the original date.

Season Schedule

Premiership clubs have voted by a clear majority to keep Premiership games on the 27th April and for games to be played under the current regulations of a grass pitch for the first attempt.

Leagues 1 – 5 games and Sunday’s Premiership T20 games will all proceed as normal.

The vote follows a very productive Club Forum held at Brigade CC on Monday night. This is the 5th Club Forum since the end of last season as the NWCU continues to engage with clubs to help shape the season ahead.

Clubs at the forum also heard of the season overview with over 1,200 fixtures including over 500 youth fixtures: our biggest programme in over 10 years

New U18 Competitions

Clubs had an opportunity to discuss the new U18 Boys and U18 Girls competitions. These are designed to help bridge the gap into Senior cricket with an emphasis on providing more opportunities for those players just starting to break into Senior cricket.

The NWCU confirmed eligibility for the U18 competitions is in line with other youth competitions with one youth registration per club (one for mixed and one for girls where applicable). As in previous year there is no ‘Player points system’ for any youth competitions.

The NWCU confirmed the following players would be eligible for a clubs U18 team:

  1. Players that in 2024 are registered for the club at U15 Level or below.

Example: A player is registered and plays at U15 youth level at Club A but plays Senior cricket at Club B. This player can play U18 cricket for Club A but not Club B.

  1. If they are over the age limit for U15 they must be registered to play Senior/adult cricket at that same club

Example: A player is too old to play U15 cricket but is still within the age limit to play U18s and is registered to play Senior cricket at Club C. They can only play U18 Cricket for Club C.
