David Scanlon North West Warriors Bowler

Bready Paceman Catching the Eye of Irish Selectors

David Scanlon North West Warriors BowlerBready’s excellent start to the Long’s SuperValu Premier Division has been built on a bowling attack that’s currently as good as any in the country.
Whether it is in-form Craig Young, teenager Gregory McFaul, Conor Olphert or Davy Scanlon there is a real cutting edge to the Magheramason men’s attack and that’s without Reece Kelly who is currently in Liverpool.
In their two games to date, Bready have conceded 69 and 70 runs- leaving a fairly straightforward job for their batsmen as they took an early lead in the standings.
This week, skipper Scanlon has been plying his trade at Pembroke as the North West Warriors served it up to Leinster Lightning and here too he has been catching the eye.
Not just any eye either, but that of new Ireland Head Coach, Graham Ford.
The South African missed very little of the game at Sydney Parade- no doubt keen to assess his lot ahead of next week’s Test against Pakistan- and he is believed to have been very taken with the Bready skipper.
In terms of International recognition, the ship has maybe sailed for “Sca”, but the player himself is loving life with both Bready and the Warriors.
He remains a fierce competitor and it is to his testament that his quality and determination was picked up so readily by the Ireland coach.
It was Scanlon’s six-hit that took the Warriors beyond 500 against Lightning in Dublin on Wednesday.
No doubt the Bready players will never hear that mentioned again…
