Saturday round-up

Is the Long’s SuperValu Premier Division title race over already after Brigade beat Bready by 7 wickets at Magheramason?

Centuries from David Barr and the in-form Iftikhar Hussain helped Andy Britton’s side chase down Bready’s 298 after half centuries from Irosh Samarasooriya, Davy Rankin and the best dressed man in town looked to have set Bready up to narrow the gap at the top.

Donemana stay second following their 19-run win at the Rectory- William McClintock making 87 and Bilawal Iqbal 54 as the Holm side posted 256. Keshan Wijerathne’s unbeaten 58 wasn’t enough for Glendermott who battled hard to the end.

Ballyspallen beat Coleraine by 5 wickets as Grasham Kennedy hit 59 not out and also took 4 wickets while Strabane are struggling at the bottom following a 138-run reverse at Eglinton. Stuart Thompson made 68 and took 3 wickets in that one.

And what about Burndennett……8 wins on the bounce for them after Salman Ahmed, Andy Barr and Mark Mooney all scored half centuries in their 313 against Killyclooney. Andre Henry scored 54 for ‘Clooney but it wasn.t enough.

Decker Curry was just 14 runs short of making that 100th century as Ardmore won at the Boathole- Jack Macbeth with 50 for the Saints and Ryan Brolly 50* for the visitors who are very close behind the leaders.

The Foxies won too- Brian Allen with 45 as they beat Newbuildings 170-110.

Don’t forget tomorrow’s big senior cup semi-finals. The weather is set fair for Ardmore v Brigade and Glendermott v Ballyspallen with both ties starting at 12 noon.
