Sammy Jeffrey preview

There’s more than one cup final taking place this Saturday with Ballyspallen set to host Burndennett in the Sammy Jeffrey decider at Bridge Park (2pm start).

The two sides enjoyed contrasting fortunes in the group stages earlier on with Mark Mooney’s men beating both Bready and Strabane before very narrow defeats to the Magheramason outfit and Fox Lodge denied them top spot in their section.

‘Spallen were one of three Premiership sides (along with Ardmore and Strabane) to fail to win a single game between them and they will have to be much better than they’ve shown so far to prevent another upset here.

The Roe Valley side have players capable of finishing the season off with a trophy and their talisman Graham Kennedy will have a point to prove on Saturday. He is of course a dangerous player if he gets away and the Tyrone team will have to be on their game if they are to stop him.

Gary Neely has been excellent for the visitors this season and skipper Mooney will be hoping that the former Ireland International is fired up to finish his season on a high.

Ross McCay, Mark Doherty, Mark Pollock and Mark Roulston are others very capable of testing their top-flight opponents in a very difficult game to call.
