Reserve dates added for T20 semi-finals

Due to weather forecasts and the expected impact of Storm Francis the NWCU have added reserve dates for semi-finals this weekend.

All Senior Semi-Finals – Senior Cup, Faughan Valley, Sammy Jeffrey and Eric Cooke – are scheduled to be played this Saturday 29th August. A reserve date of Sunday 30th August has now been included, with start times of 2pm. If no play is possible on the Sunday then a bowl-out will be held.

Peter McCartney, NWCU General Manager, explained the additional date:

“Looking ahead at the forecast and the amount of rain expected over the next few days, it’s going to be difficult to get all the games played on Saturday.

We want to give clubs as much chance as possible to play the semi-finals and therefore have added an additional date. We felt it was best to make this call early based on the forecast and give clubs and players sufficient notice. I don’t think anyone wants to decide a semi-final by way of bowl out so with the use of mats, being able to reduce the game down to five overs and now a reserve date, we are trying to mitigate the weather as best we can.”
