Opening weekend fixtures postponed

The NWCU have confirmed that the opening round of fixtures on the 20th and 21st April have been postponed due to heavy levels of rainfall in recent weeks.

The NWCU, in consultation with the Cricket Operations Committee and NW Grounds Committee, have reviewed the current grounds and forecast over the next 10 days.

As a result of this review, the below changes are being made to opening round of fixtures on 20th and 21st April:

  • Men’s T20 games on 20th April will switch to 28th April with all venues remaining the same. Please note these games can be played on an artificial pitch.
  • Women’s Division 1 games on 21st April will switch to w/c 5th August

The NWCU can confirm that all matches on 27th April will remain as they are and follow normal regulations.

In making this decision the NWCU did consider a number of different options however any further changes at this stage would involve ‘triple header’ weekends and matches on Bank Holidays, both of which we believe is an unfair ask on players, umpires and grounds teams.

We thank you for your understanding and hope that the weather will improve shortly.
