NWCU secure €40k in funding for Donegal

The NWCU is delighted to confirm that almost €40,000 in sports equipment funding has been secured for cricket in Donegal.

This significant investment was announced today by the Irish Government package under the latest round of the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme.

Welcoming the announcement of the funding, Peter McCartney, NWCU General Manager, said:

“This is welcome funding for the NWCU to help grow cricket in Donegal. Firstly, it will allow us to invest in both Letterkenny and St Johnston with cricket equipment and build on the excellent work being done by these clubs. For Letterkenny in particular, the equipment will allow them to start playing and training in Letterkenny town itself as the NWCU supports them in their search for a more permanent home.

In addition, the funding will allow us to increase our development work in Donegal and reach new areas. In recent years we have seen Letterkenny thrive whilst St Johnston now have new U18 teams and Womens teams. There is still a lot more potential within the County and our development staff are working hard to grow cricket in this area.”
