NWCU pays tribute to Sadie McGarrigle

The North West Cricket Union is deeply saddened to learn earlier today of the death of a wonderful supporter of local cricket, Sadie McGarrigle.

Sadie was well known across the region for her passionate support of her beloved Creevedonnell; a club where she devoted so much of her time and effort in a range of roles. She was such a welcoming presence at the Curryfree Road ground and was never short of a word or twelve during those friendly exchanges of banter.

She was the epitome of all that is good about North West cricket and nothing gave her more pleasure than following the fortunes of her own family, wherever they played, but especially at the ‘Donnell.

Union Chairman Brian Dougherty, a close friend of many years, paid a heartfelt tribute to Sadie this afternoon.

“Sadie was well known in cricketing and community circles of course; she was a vital part of Creevedonnell for years as our scorer, committee member, organiser, fundraiser, taxi, tea maker, pavilion organiser and anything else she was asked to do.”

“She was larger than life and with a heart of gold, and she always said she was happiest when at the ‘Donnell.”

“It’s a very sad day for the North West and for her many friends and our deepest sympathies go out to Tommy, Aaron, Kylie, Leighton and Ellis.”

May her gentle soul Rest In Peace.
