NWCU Board Meeting Update
NWCU Board Update
The Board of North West Cricket Union held a ‘virtual’ board meeting last night (Thursday 4th June) with a primary focus on the domestic season and supporting our clubs through the ‘Return to Cricket’ process. Firstly, the Board would like to thank all clubs for participating in the club webinars this week as we begin the journey back to training and playing.
The key points from the Board meeting are summarised below:
The Board agreed that in keeping with feedback from this week’s consultations there will be no promotion or relegation at the end of the season. The Cricket Operations Committee will meet early next week to discuss potential formats for competitions later in the summer. They will then engage in consultation with clubs and present their proposals to the Board later this month.
We will of course keep all members informed at every stage of the process.
Return To Cricket
Covid-19 Protocols and checklists will be sent to all NWCU clubs by Cricket Ireland/NWCU on Monday. This pack will include guidelines on cleaning, guides to training for players and coaches, a pre-restart checklist and several helpful templates.
All clubs have today been assigned a dedicated NWCU Covid-19 Support Officer who will help to support our clubs return to training and playing. These Support Officers have already been contacting their assigned clubs this afternoon to outline some of the key steps required next week.
Cricket Ireland Support
The Board would also like to acknowledge the dedicated work by Cricket Ireland in leading on the ‘Return to Cricket’ process. Their commitment to helping clubs and the grassroots game during this challenging period has been encouraging. The Board welcomes their continued support as we begin to move towards the resumption of competitive fixtures this summer.
