North West Warriors U19 Girls Squad named

The North West Warriors have named their U19 Girls squad ahead of the game against Northern Knights this Friday at Coleraine.

Marking the start of a busy 5-game series at various age groups against the Northern Knights, the U19s will play at Coleraine in a T20 game starting at 1:30pm.

12 players have been named in the squad by coaches Stephen McCartney and Jared Wilson, which will be captained by Bready’s Alana Dalzell, who has been training with the Ireland Senior side over the summer.

NWCU Women & Girls Development Officer, Kathryn Rough, commented on the upcoming fixtures:

After the last few months, to be getting in a 5-game series is brilliant. They will be across different across groups to allow us to mix up the squads and ensure plenty of game time for the girls.

They had been training over the winter months but that obviously all stopped in March. We started training again a few weeks ago though with Stephen and Jared taking weekly sessions at Bready, who have been impressed by the commitment and talent of the squad. They have also started back playing with their clubs again which should help going into these games.

We had hoped to play a full Interprovincial series this summer with NCU and Leinster but with Covid that isn’t an option anymore. We have worked hard with the NCU though to get in plenty of games over the next few weeks.
