North West Ladies League To Get Underway

LADIES LEAGUE KICKS OFF THIS MONDAY NIGHT

The ladies cricket returns to the North West this upcoming Monday night with Bready determined to retain both the league title and the ladies cup that they won in a remarkable 2018 campaign.

This season sees a change for the league format, as Donemana, unfortunately, had to pull their team out for the 2018 season, the North West has formatted the league to continue with just seven teams meaning teams having games every two weeks.

All the action begins this Monday, May 7th at 6.30pm, with joint league holders, Fox Lodge travel to face to Eglinton.

The Foxies are hopeful of holding on to the Ladies League for the second year while Eglinton ladies hope to start the 2018 season with a victory.

Elsewhere, Newbuildings play host to Strabane Saints which is sure to be a competitive contest. After finishing in the top four last season, the Strabane Saint’s girls are hopeful to aim even higher this season and keep up the high standard.

Strabane Saints skipper, Hazel Magee is looking forward to getting the new season started, saying;

”This season we hope to improve from the previous season and strengthen the position of ladies cricket in The North West. We have lost out going for the league title for the past couple of years, but this year I am hopeful to get it back to Strabane Park.”

NW Women Vs Leinster CC 1On May 14th, sees the reminder of opening games, Killyclooney travel to Newbuildings for their opening game. After being joint B league winners last year alongside Donemana, Killyclooney is aiming even higher for this season.

Burndennett set off to Eglinton which is sure o be an opening thriller. Captain, Julie Logue intends to start the season with a bang and prove they are the team to beat this season.

The final opening contest sees the favourites Bready travel to face Strabane which is sure to be an exciting game between the long-time rivals.

The Ladies matches will be played on Monday evenings starting at 6.30pm. All clubs would warmly welcome support throughout the campaign.
