North West joins Pedal4Patto relay
North West clubs joined with their NCU counterparts on Friday afternoon as the Pedal4Patto charity cycle was staged in glorious sunshine across the country. The event locally started in Sion Mills and via Killyclooney, Bonds Glen and Donemana, moved its way across and down to Coleraine.
All clubs seemed happy to join in for such a wonderful charity with four cyclists doing the full journey to Muckamore Cricket Club. The Union was represented too with several staff members also taking part.
There was plenty of banter along the way with Phil Patterson claiming that Decker Curry cycled up behind him on the Limavady Road and invited him to travel with him to Beechgrove. “I agreed, but after about 30 seconds he was just a dot in the distance. He was passing cars on the way” he laughed.
The North West leg was overseen by the Rao family- Bobby, Josephine, Kamini and Suresh who provided refreshments for the cyclists as they reached Brigade CC.
Proceeds from the cycle will be used to help with treatment and care for Andrew Patterson and the day was a true testament to the family spirit of the game across the Unions.
