North West Awards Dinner Details
The North West Cricket Union Awards Dinner will this year be held on Friday 26th October at the Best Western White Horse Hotel, Eglinton, with a 7.30pm meet for a 7.45pm start.
At this year’s Awards Dinner, The North Wests committee have been able to secure Brian Stirling as the guest speaker.
Brian is someone who many in the North West will know, most often seen as a spectator around the grounds, particularly at Irish games or having played against for Cliftonville in years gone by.
Brian is a past pupil of Belfast Royal Academy; he represented Ireland Schools, Muckamore and Ballymena where he spent much of his career opening the batting as a solid technical player.
He was also an International Rugby referee, one of his highlights being officiating for South Africa’s first two Tests after reintroduction to world sports after apartheid, while on his Test debut as a referee he also sent off two Fijians vs England in 1989.
After ten years as an on-field referee he went on to become an assessor and TV match official, more recently he has become famous for being the father of Ireland’s star batsman Paul Stirling……
While we realise that not everyone can attend we would ask that clubs confirm either way whether they intend on sending representatives to what is a celebration of the NW Cricket season.
As we have done in the last number of years we are offering those clubs that send 10 or more representatives a small discount on tickets, the usual price of £25 has been held again for 2018, and for those clubs that do take 10+ tickets, the price will be £22.50 each.
As usual, all clubs will be invoiced for a minimum of 6 tickets, even if they have no-one attend.
The North Wests Cricket Committee will be meeting in the coming days to decide on the 2018 Award Winners and will inform each club as to who from their club has won what with the intention being to have as many award winners present on the evening as is possible, we will also as per recent years be inducting two person’s into the NWCU Hall of Fame.
If you email david.bradley@northwestcricket.com confirming numbers attending no later than 5 pm on Friday 19th October it would be much appreciated so we can confirm numbers and table plans with the hotel
