No change at top of Women’s Premier League

Conditions were far from ideal on Monday night as Bready and Fox Lodge extended their lead at the top of the table, albeit the Ballymagorry girls didn’t get a game after Newbuildings conceded having been unable to field a team.

Bready had too much quality for a battling Eglinton side as the champions posted an emphatic 9-wicket win to stay top of the pile.

Alana Dalzell made an unbeaten 41 and Millie Spence 31 not out as those two steered their team past Eglinton’s 91-6 with 12 overs to spare. Arianna McKenna top scored with 19, Rea Moore made 14* and Rosie McHugh 13 for the villagers, who never really threatened to defend their modest total.

Bonds Glen were good winners at Strabane Park as well; Charley Scott with 56 not out and Jessica Cooke 27 in a total of 146-6 as Emma Doherty claimed 3-23 with the ball.

The home side reached 81-7 in reply, courtesy in the main from an unbeaten 47-run partnership for the 8th wicket between Arlene Mullen (18*) and Sophie McGranaghan (12*).
