‘Newbuildings Spirit’ win The Hundred
The under-15 ‘Hundred’ competition has proven to be another very successful underage venture for the NWCU and the competition was won today by Newbuildings Spirit who beat the MCC Invincibles by 53 runs at the Rectory.
Some fantastic batting by Charlie Simpson (55), Sam Stott (31) and David Guy (20) helped the village side to rack up an impressive 137-3 batting first and the MCC were never really in the hunt after that.
Bobby Brolly made 19 at the top of the Invincibles’ order but the bowlers were always in control, Sam Stott (2-10) and Charlie Downey (2-20) the pick as the chase closed on 84-7.
It was certainly something the competing teams enjoyed this week and something for administrators to look at expanding in 2023, but congratulations to Newbuildings on this inaugural win.
