Men’s senior fixtures announced for 2024 season

The men’s senior fixtures in both the Long’s SuperValu Premiership divisions and the Best Western White Horse Hotel T20 competitions have now been published, while the first round draws in both the men’s and women’s senior cup competitions are set to take place this coming Monday (4 March).

The new campaign gets underway on Saturday 20 April with an experimental double-header of White Horse T20 fixtures. The penultimate weekend in April has traditionally been used for friendlies in preparation for the new campaign, however it was discussed at the pre-season club forums and agreed that this new format would be a more meaningful start to the summer.

Fox Lodge, Bready, Brigade, Donemana, Glendermott, Newbuildings, Burndennett and Strabane will all be hosts to two games apiece on 20 April- the first starting at 12 noon and the second no later than 4pm.

The Nedd begin life in the senior ranks with a trip to 2022 senior cup winners, Fox Lodge in their early game and then head out the Artigarvan Road towards Donemana for a crack at the Holm side in the afternoon.

There are plenty of other intriguing fixtures as well- Brigade will host Coleraine and then Bonds Glen while Burndennett face a tough start as they entertain first Eglinton and then Ardmore.

All the fixtures for opening day, and indeed for all competitions, will be uploaded to the Union’s official fixture list on the link below-

After the opening double header, the T20 Cup will then give way to the start of the Long’s SuperValu Premiership Leagues- Section 1 and Section 2- on Saturday 27 April.

League matches will be played in a 40-over format starting at 12 noon; again as agreed at the recent club forums.

Champions Ardmore will start their title defence at home to the Bannsiders while Bready entertain last year’s surprise package, Killyclooney.

Game of the day could well be at the Holm where Newbuildings are the visitors although Eglinton v Brigade looks a tasty clash as well.

In Section 2, there’s a decent Tyrone derby to kick things off- Fox Lodge entertaining Strabane, while The Nedd head to Bonds Glen for their first league game.

St Johnston have a home game first up- Ballyspallen visit the Boathole on the 27th while Burndennett welcome Glendermott at the start of their promotion push.

Just a reminder also that the draws for both the men’s and women’s senior cup first round ties will be made this coming Monday.

Tune in to Radio Foyle’s ‘Sportsound’ programme at 8.30pm on Monday night at half time in the football for live coverage, with Jordan McGonigle and Johnny Thompson making the men’s draw.

Full details of the senior women’s league and cups programme for the season ahead will be covered in a separate article due shortly.
