Lightning on top at Bready
Leinster Lightning had the better of things on Tuesday as their Test Triangle Interprovincial Championship game against the North West Warriors finally got under way at Bready.
Monday’s first day was lost without a ball being delivered, however the Dubliners used conditions well today as they bowled the hosts out for 135 in their first innings.
Simi Singh (3-15), Peter Chase (2-24), Tyrone Kane (2-25) and George Dockrell (2-41) were the men on the mark as the Warriors slumped from 70-2 after William Porterfield (25) and Aaron Gillespie (22) had given them a decent start.
It took a 27-run 10th wicket stand between Scanlon and Graham Kennedy (12*) to get the home side up to their 136 leaving Dockrell’s side 13 overs to bat in their first dig.
Lightning had knocked off 49 of the deficit for the loss of one wicket by the close of play- Jack Tector the man out, bowled by Craig Young for 24.
The match finishes on Wednesday however the visitors best chance of recording a win will hinge on an early declaration and no further rain.
