Knights close in on IPT20 crown

The Northern Knights have taken a huge step towards winning this season’s Rario IPT20 trophy after a 5-wicket win over the second placed Warriors on Day 1 of the season’s Festival finale.

In a strangely low-scoring contest the North West side were bowled out for just 78 in little more than 15 overs- Jared Wilson with 29 and Grahame Hume (17) the only players to make it into double figures.

Matt Humphreys bowled superbly to finish with figures of 5-13 while Theo van Woerkom weighed in with 3-27 as the Knights cashed in on the Warriors’ struggles.

Paul Stirling (19) and Ross Adair (17) put on 28 for the first wicket of the reply before the leaders then wobbled themselves.

Graham Hume (2-9) and Craig Young (2-20) showed plenty of fight as five wickets fell for the addition of 26 runs, but the Warriors had nothing to play with.

Neil Rock (29*) made sure his side got over the line with five to spare and Simon Johnston’s side- still unbeaten in this competition- look set to claim their due reward very shortly.
