Glendermott claim impressive Sperrin Springs Cup win
A Nathan McGuire half century steered Glendermott to a convincing 9-wicket win over Ardmore at Strabane Park in Sunday’s Sperrin Springs cup final.
The Warriors batsman hit 8 fours and 4 sixes in his 37-ball 63; only dismissed with the scores tied as the Rectory side chased down a modest target of 81.
The Bleachgreen batsmen weren’t at the races in an out-of-sorts effort; Dharm Singh’s 31 apart, only Tyron Koen (14) reached double figures as Curtis Ross (3-13), McGuire (3-19) and Alan Johnson (2-25) proved very troublesome.
McGuire proved that there was little to worry about in the pitch and Bob Robinson (8*) was happy to let his opening partner farm the strike as they knocked of the target in less than nine overs.
Down at the ‘Green, Burndennett IIs recorded a 98-run win over North Fermanagh in a sporting League 3 final.
Man-of-the-match Mark Porter made 52 in both innings with ‘Bear’ McGettigan hitting 50 in the second innings as well.
Fermanagh skipper Graeme Fitzpatrick had combined figure of 5-43 for the Kesh side who struggled with the bat- David Mills’ 32 in the first innings was their highest score across the two days.
John McCormick (6-51) was best with the ball for the winners as they collected the trophy from Connie McAllister.
Fermanagh didn’t go home empty handed however, skipper Fitzpatrick and his players picking up their trophy and medals as league winners after the game.
