Foxies seal another Women’s Cup success

Fox Lodge duly won their fourth Women’s Senior Cup in five years at Strabane last night with a 13-run (DLS) success over Eglinton.

In a low-scoring contest it was to the credit of both teams and the Umpires that the game reached a conclusion at all; persistent rain and near darkness failing to force the teams off until just before the end when they had absolutely no choice.

For the record, Alice McLaughlin top scored with 16 as Eglinton were bowled out for 52- Mollie Devine (3-8), Lucy Neely (3-12) and Kara Bates (2-9) doing the damage with the ball.

Lucy and Sarah Black made 14 apiece at the start of Fox Lodge’s reply- the teenager picking up the Player of the Match award for her night’s work- as the Ballymagorry side got their noses in front.

And once heavy rain closed in, the batting side were 41-2 in the 13th over- 13 ahead of the par score of 28.

It was an extremely difficult night for cricket but both teams were determined to get a result on the pitch and that they did.
