Fox Lodge and Coleraine women post convincing league wins

Only two games went ahead in Monday night’s round of women’s fixtures- leaders Bready’s home match with Killyclooney postponed due to the visitors having players continuing to isolate. The games that were played resulted in wide-margin wins for Fox Lodge, who were too strong for Strabane, and Coleraine who had plenty to spare at Eglinton.

The Bannsiders chased down the villagers’ 96 with Rea Moore (12), Zara Craig (10) and Alice McLaughlin (10) best with the bat. The McCartney sisters Kia (2-9) and Kenya (2-17) both bowled well although three run-outs did little to help Eglinton’s cause. Kia was in the runs as well- her 46 not out (6 fours) and 12 from Eva Gaston seeing to it that the north coast side were able to record an 8-wicket win.

At Ballymagorry, Fox Lodge were even more impressive, posting a 10-wicket win at home to Strabane. Chasing the visitors’ 62-8, openers Emma Allen (30) and Lucy Neely (24) did the work without losing a wicket, passing the target with 4 wickets to spare.

The match was won with the ball however, Hazel Britton with 25 the only batter to get among the runs as Mollie Devine took 3-7 and Lucy Neely (3-10) did the bulk of the damage. Mollie took her three wickets in three balls- her second hat-trick of the season- as the Foxies wrapped up the win.
