FIRST OUTDOOR SESSION FOR WILSON’S WARRIORS

The first grass pitch training of the new Interprovincial season took place at Bready on Thursday as new Warriors Head Coach Gary Wilson was joined by Ireland Head Coach Graham Ford to oversee the start of a new era in the North West. The session was split up into groups in keeping with current protocols with Stuart Thompson, Andy McBrine, Stephen Doheny and Shane Getkate among the first to have a net.

It was certainly cool enough at the Magheramason venue, however there was no doubting the relief among the cricket community to see the first tentative steps taken in what many will hope will be a full domestic season.

The Warriors announced their 17-man squad earlier this week with Getkate and Doheny the only additions to the new line-up albeit the inclusion of Thompson, Aaron Gillespie and William McClintock is great news for local supporters.

Training is set to gather pace in the coming weeks ahead of the start of competitive action at the beginning of next month.
