Fantastic day as under-13 girls play Leinster
Mollie Devine reports on under-13 girls game at Ballymagorry
The North west under-13 girls started the week hosting a strong Leinster team that travelled to sunny Ballymagorry on Monday afternoon.
Lucy Neely captained the North West in the IP20 in which the local side took to the field first. The girls started off really strongly having Leinster struggling 12-4 thanks to a superb spell of bowling from Mansi Bhavsar. The Bready youngster returned superb figures of 5-1 off her 4 overs.
Leinster’s opening batter, Lienkies de Klerk carried her bat for 34 as their innings closed on 78 runs.
In reply the North West batters struggled with the accurate bowling of Alice Tector-another of the famous YMCA family- who claimed 1 wicket while conceding just 1 run from her 3 overs. Lucy Neely was the only player to get into double figures- she made 20 as the NW girls finished their innings on 63-6, falling just 16 runs short of the target.
A great occasion for the girls who put up a good performance against quality opposition in their first game together.
Well done to Leinster girls and good luck for the rest of your campaign.
