Emerging Warriors set up Knights shoot-out

The Emerging Warriors posted an emphatic 9-wicket win over Munster Heat this afternoon to set up a deciding game against the Emerging Knights at Carrickfergus later, with the winner joining the Cricket Ireland Academy in tomorrow’s Future Series T20 final.

In a game reduced to 19 overs a side, only Brandon Kruger with a defiant 58 (8 fours, 1 six) managed to get among the runs for the Reds as they were restricted to 102-5 batting first.

Skipper Harry Zimmermann led the way with the ball, returning figures of 2-7 from 4 overs with Robbie Millar (1-15 from 4) also impressing.

Despite the early loss of Jack Macbeth, an unbroken stand of 95 between Marcus Poskitt (51*- 3 fours, 3 sixes) and Gavin Roulston (40*- 3 fours, 3 sixes) steered the North West side over the line with almost 6 overs to spare.

It’s been a very good workout for Boyd Rankin’s charges this week and the Head Coach will already have plenty of positives to take away with him from the trip.
