Defeat by NCU ends U-17 Boys Interpro series

The North West under-17 Boys were unable to build on Tuesday’s win over Munster when they lost out to the NCU by 47 runs at Stormont this afternoon in the final game of the six-match series.

Carson McCullough hit 6 fours in his 59 with Tim Crowthers adding 35 and Finn Lutton 17 in the Belfast side’s total of 179 all out.

Scott Macbeth and James Bell fared best of the bowlers with 3-24 and 3-43 respectively with Gavin Roulston also returning excellent figures of 2-16 from 9 overs.

Macbeth was again on the money with bat in hand, top-scoring for the second day in a row with 47 (6 fours, 1 six). Roulston added 22 and Robert McFarland 19, but elsewhere the NCU attack was on top.

Mohammed Aahil claimed 4-14, McCullough 2-22 and Jack Snell 2-27 as the visitors were dismissed for 132.

It’s a third-placed finish for the North West lads this time around and some really good experience at this level for many of the squad.
