Coleraine and Fox Lodge post big Monday night wins

There were just a couple of games in the Women’s Premier League on Monday night as Fox Lodge and Coleraine secured wide-margin wins to close the gap on leaders Bready, who were taking their turn to sit it out.

The Foxies reduced Bready’s lead to just a couple of points as they posted a 10-wicket win over Strabane at the Park.

The Red Caps were reduced to a modest total of 47 all out with Kylie McGarrigle’s 16 the best of that as Lucy Blair (3-4) picked up a hat-trick with Tanisha Hussain adding 2-2 and Kara Bates 2-7.

Sarah Black hit an 18-ball 30* and Lucy Neely 12* to hand the Ballymagorry outfit a maximum-points win.

It was a similar story at Sandel Lodge as Coleraine restricted Bonds Glen to 73-4 from their 20 overs. Openers Leah Thompson (15) and Emily Young (13) put on 31 for the first wicket, however the bowlers were on top thereafter.

The Bannsiders didn’t need long to knock off the required runs with Amy Caulfield (40*) and Eva Gaston (21*) easing the hosts to a similarly emphatic victory.

Eglinton’s game at home to Newbuildings was postponed to allow the villagers an opportunity to work on their ground ahead of this week’s Youth Inter-provincials.
