Bready women extend winning run

Only two matches went ahead in the senior women’s league on Monday night with Bready now just a handful of points away from retaining their title after a maximum-points win at Bonds Glen.

Charlie Scott hit an unbeaten 50 with Cody Wallace adding 41 and Alana Dalzell 36 as the leaders posted a daunting 154-2 from their 20 overs.

Karen Haslett (24) was the only batter on the home side to make it to double figures in reply; siblings Jodie and Millie Spence claiming 2-10 and 2-12 respectively as the Bee Gees could only manage 81-7.

Fox Lodge kept the race alive for another week at least after they recorded their second wide-margin win over Coleraine in a week.

Eva Gaston made an impressive 42 not out for the north coast side in their 103-9, with Lucy Neely bowling an excellent 4 overs to return figures of 3-5.

Lucy Blair (3-21) and Mollie Devine (2-18) were also among the wickets while Sarah Black (55 not out) bossed the Foxies’ reply.

Lucy chipped in with 21 at the top of the order too; however the Ballymagorry side will need a minor miracle from here to reign Bready in from this position.

Strabane’s game at Eglinton was postponed owing to a bereavement.
