Bready triumph over Fox Lodge in local derby

Batting first The Foxies displayed a first-class performance with Sarah Black (47*) and Toni Miller (5) pushing the total to just 65 in the first 6 overs.

Being tactical to prevent any more runs going on the board skipper Jemma Rankin changed up the bowling formation with Vee Buchanan (1-9) picked up the wicket of Miller in the twelfth over that put a dent on the growing partnership alongside Black.

Joining Black at the crease, it now was the task of Mollie Devine (23) to help gain as many runs in the reminding eight overs. The pair went onto post a distinguished total of 92.

In response the Bready Army didn’t hold back chasing down the runs as in just five overs the total was sitting at 55 due to excellent batting performances from Alana Dalzell (47) and Amy Campbell (13).

With L Blair (1-16) now bowling from the road end things now started to fall for Bready as Dalzell was dismissed in the thirteenth over.

Joining Campbell at the crease was now Steph Wilkinson (16*) and with the pair needing 30 runs in just seven overs it seemed like a achievable task for the two.

But with the pressure mounting and with the precise bowling from Mollie Devine (1-11) causing the casualty of Campbell with now only 2 overs now remaining there was a tense atmosphere between the two teams as it was anyone game at this point.

With now only one over remaining and 11 runs still required, Vee Buchanan was next in joining Wilkinson at the other end, the pair took it right down to the wire as now only 1 run needed off just one ball.

Wilkinson made sure to have a thrilling end to the game as she hit a fantastic four in the last ball allowing Bready to pick up there fourth victory of the season.
