Bready seal Women’s League title success

Bready Women have retained their North West senior league title after a 63-run success over cup winners, Fox Lodge, at Magheramason on Thursday night.

In what was a comprehensive victory for the hosts, Cody Wallace (34) and Alana Dalzell (24) posted an 82-run opening partnership that was assisted by some really wayward bowling from the visitors.

In all, the Foxies conceded 55 extras- 51 of them ‘wides’ while Abbey McKnight chipped in with 17 not out in Bready’s total of 132-4 from 20 overs.

Special mention here to Emma Wasson who claimed figures of 4-24 in her first time bowling for the Foxies.

Despite that, the reigning champions had no trouble defending their total.

Lucy Neely’s 29 not out at the top of the order was defiant, and Hannah McLaughlin added 14 in the middle; however Cody with 3-5 and Vanessa Buchanan (2-9) led the way as Bready restricted their opponents to just 69-7 in reply.

It’s a fantastic effort from Alana Dalzell’s side who are unbeaten so far in the league and have confirmed their title win with two games still to play.
