Bready pull clear as Coleraine and Eglinton serve up thrilling tie

Bready have pulled further clear at the top of the Women’s Senior League after a comfortable win over Fox Lodge on Monday night while Coleraine and Eglinton shared the spoils following a thrilling tie at Sandel Lodge.

The leaders made 140 batting first at Ballymagorry with Charlie Scott (35*) and Cody Wallace (35) sharing the top-scorer honours.

Kathryn Rough added 16 and Alana Dalzell 15 with two wickets apiece for Tanisha Hussain, Elle Moore and Mollie Devine.

Rain intervened in the second innings with DLS setting the Foxies a new target of 126 in 17 overs.

They were going reasonably well too before Mollie went down with what seemed a pretty bad calf injury and she was unable to carry on, having made 32 not out.

Laura Allen was unbeaten on 17 but two wickets apiece from Jody Spence and Vanessa Buchanan put an end to the home side’s hopes; their reply closing on 85-6- a 40-run win for Bready.

An opening stand of 84 between Lucy Carmichael and Arianna McKenna gave Eglinton a fantastic start at Coleraine.

Lucy hit 6 fours in her excellent 51 with skipper Arianna making a valuable 40 as they posted 135-4 in 20 overs.

Coleraine’s top order were able to keep pace with both side’s guilty of conceding a few extras, but Amy Caulfield (17) and Connie Block (14) fared best with the bat as the reply reached 82-8 in the 14th over.

Jessica Meates (33-6 fours) batted superbly to get Coleraine back on top as her and Connor-Boyd (14*) took 53 off the next five overs sending the hosts into the last over needing 3 to win.

Eglinton bowler Tasha Simmons did a superb job to concede just 2 extras from the first five, meaning the batting side needed one to win off the last and she earned her side a draw by having Karis McIntyre caught as the scores ended level.
