Bready claim senior women’s title

Bready are this season’s women’s league winners after a 91-run over Coleraine at Sandel Lodge on Monday night. The Magheramason side had gone into the final round of fixtures leading Fox Lodge by just 2 bonus points, but ensured they wrapped up the title by picking up the maximum haul against the north coast girls.

Aland Dalzell posted another half century- her third in a row in the league- as the leaders made 135-4 from their 20 overs. Kaylee Barnard added 24 and Steph Wilkinson 20 with Eva Gaston (2-19) the pick of the bowling.

Coleraine were off the pace in reply, as Alana capped a fantastic performance by returning figure of 4-5 and Charley Scott 3-8 in a total of 44 all out.

Second placed Fox Lodge kept the race alive right to the end as they bowled an inexperienced Killyclooney side out for 29. Sarah Black (3-5), Kara Bates (3-8) and Lucy Blair (2-4) were all on the mark for the Magheramason side with the ball. The Foxes knocked off the required runs for the loss of one wicket inside 4 overs, but were just to be undone in the final reckoning.

It’s on now to the cup for the senior women with Newbuildings entering a team in that- the draw to be made on Wednesday evening.
