Big wins for Bready, Coleraine and Fox Lodge women

A 130-run partnership between Coleraine openers Amy Caulfield and Amelia Guy set the tone for a trio of decisive wins as the Women’s Senior League resumed on Monday evening.

Amy hit 14 fours in her 86 not out with Amelia adding 37 as the Bannsiders set Newbuildings a target of 165-1 from their 20 overs. Eva Gaston chipped in with a breezy 18* and the visitors never looked likely to chase it down from there.

On a difficult night for them, none of the batters made it to double figure as Newbuildings were all out for 40. Kenya McCartney (3-8) was best with the ball with Caulfield adding 2-3 from her two overs as the hosts won with plenty to spare.

Champions Bready had eight wickets to spare over Bonds Glen for whom Lucy Thompson made an excellent 41 of their total of 106-6.

Tiara Mitchell (2-21) was the most successful of the eight bowlers used by the Magheramason girls while openers Millie Spence (32) and Lucy McGranaghan (24) knocked off the bulk of the runs in reply.

Alana Dalzell, back in her club colours for the night, was unbeaten on 18 as they made it two league wins from two starts.

Fox Lodge completed proceedings with a 9-wicket win over the villagers at Eglinton.

Sarah Black made 28, Molly Devine 17* and Lucy Neely 13* as the Foxies chased down the home side’s 70-8; Meagan McClintock top scoring with 20 not out for the hosts.

Mollie continued her impressive start to the season with 4-12 while Lucy Blair returned figures of 3-11 in a very comfortable win for the cup holders.

A reminder also that the semi-final draw for the Women’s Senior Cup will take place ahead of the Warriors v Lightning game at Bready on Tuesday afternoon.
