All Tyrone Ladies Final | Fox Lodge Vs Strabane
It’s all about the North-West Ladies Cup Semi-Final this past Monday night as Fox Lodge and Strabane progress to the final.
At Ballymagorry, the first game saw Fox Lodge claim a massive 8-wicket victory over the season favourites- Burndennett.
Batting first, it looked to be plain sailing for Burndennett as a 56-run stand between openers Julie Logue (37), and Kylie McGarrigle (18) helped steer the total to 60 off the opening eight overs.
With a change in the bowling from Mollie Devine (19-3), the visitors lost the critical wicket of Logue and McGarrigle in the 14th over. By then it looked like Burndennett might not even get 100, but all that changed with a 37-run partnership between Nicola Arbuckle (14) and Megan McGettigan (15) helped to finish with a final total of 101 off their 20 overs.
Fox Lodge’s top order have always been consistent with the bat this summer, and they didn’t disappoint with their response either as with an outstanding 80 run stand between Emma Allen (47) and Mollie Devine (35) pushed the total to 80 off the opening ten overs
Once Devine dismissed in the 14th over due to the accurate bowling from Julie Logue (10-2) She was then followed in by skipper Hannah McLaughlin as the Foxies found themselves still 15 runs adrift with only 3 overs left.
With three quick 4’s from Allen, the hosts went on to gain the total with just one over to spare, allowing them another victory and to advance on to the final.
Strabane Saints also booked their place into the 2018 ladies final due to a forfeit from Eglinton as they were unable to field a team.
Speaking to the North-West Strabane Saints skipper, Megan Moorehead said;
”I am thrilled to be going through to the 2018 ladies cup final even though we would have preferred to have played to gain the place in the final.”
It’s unfortunate that Eglinton could not field a team, but we hope they can rebuild for the remainder of the season as they are a great bunch of girls.”
We look forward to facing on Fox Lodge as it is sure to be a thrilling competition between our two teams but my girls are more determined than ever, and we hope I can get the cup back to Strabane Park.”
The Date & Venue for the Final will be announced in due course.
