Affiliate Umpire Scheme

Affiliate Umpire Scheme

It is North West Cricket Unions objective that cricket matches are played fairly and under the Laws of the game. Ideally all matches would be umpired by an official who is not directly involved in the game, such as:

  • Members of the Umpires & Scorers Association
  • NWCU Affiliate/Pathway Umpires (appointed by their club / school).

NEED FOR AFFILIATE UMPIRES

  • Create a bank of affiliated umpires who can umpire competitive fixtures, sometimes at their own club.
  • Reduce need for Umpiring to be done by those directly involved with each particular particular match.
  • Step in when no NWCU Umpires are available.

    • Note: anyone who already has a umpiring qualification has no need to complete a foundation course & can still register for this scheme.

This affiliate umpire training will remain valid for 3 years & once an affiliate umpire has informed their club of their availability then you are ready to get going.

GETTING MATCHES AS AN AFFILIATE UMPIRE

As an affiliate umpire you will be affiliated to a club or a school (or both). This means you are only available to umpire in matches that the club and/or school are competing in.

It will be the responsibility of the Home club to inform travelling clubs of the availability of any of their

affiliate umpires, and before the Home club can appoint an affiliate umpire it is the responsibility of the travelling club whether they want the services of an affiliate umpire or not.

Any fee for umpiring for any club will be simply to match the umpiring level that the players would have had to cover, had the affiliate umpire not been there. ie. Only one umpiring position is applicable to any one team per match & it is never one team’s responsibility to cover both umpire costs.
